Teacher suspended after uploading video on Facebook

A government schoolteacher in Ganderbal was suspended from service Wednesday over allegations of unprofessional conduct after he uploaded a video on Facebook criticising authorities for a flawed question paper.

Bilal Ahmed Shah, posted in Boys High School Hayan in the Kangan education zone of Ganderbal district, was put under suspension and asked to report to the directorate of education.

The video he posted on Facebook criticised an apparently flawed question paper for 7th grade students.

“Pending enquiry into his conduct, Bilal Ahmed Shah, teacher at BHS Hayan is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect and the suspendee is hereby attached to directorate of school education Kashmir,” reads an order issued by the chief education officer of Ganderbal, Gayas-ud-din.

“If he had any issue and concern he should have contacted his seniors or higher authorities instead of uploading a video criticising the education department and authorities in an unprofessional conduct and behavior,” CEO told Greater Kashmir.

Shah has reportedly said he was “rewarded with a punishment” for exposing the truth about education department.
