The government authorities in Rajouri claimed to have cleared all vital roads for traffic, after these were closed due to snowfall in the last 48 hours.
An official of mechanical engineering department said that the snow clearance operation has been successfully completed on Poonch Mandi to Loran road, which had been shut on Saturday morning. “We have cleared the road surface and traffic was restored since Sunday morning. We managed to clear one-and-a-half feet of snow that was present on the Loran road stretch,” he said.
Similarly, an official of border roads organization told Greater Kashmir that snow clearance operation stands completed on all the roads of Rajouri and Poonch. “The main roads, which were blocked due to snowfall were Bhimber Gali to Hamirpur road, Rajouri-Budhal road and Thannamandi to DKG road. We have cleared the road off snow and traffic stands restored,” he said.
Meanwhile, an official of the Poonch administration said that all the main roads across the district have been thrown open for traffic once again. “Only the Mughal Road remains to be blocked. But that will only be thrown open in the summers,” he said.
