Vijay Hazare Trophy: After selector resignations, JKCA in a fix

With only 5 days left in J&K Cricket team’s start of the campaign in the upcoming Vijaya Hazare trophy as the team is scheduled to play its first match on September 20 against Bengal, J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) is yet to announce the State team.

Two selectors of the JKCA selection committee namely Dhruv Mahajan and Vidhya Bhaskar having tendered their resignation already, the original four-member committee is reduced to two only. As a result, the remaining two selectors, Chairman SP Qaiser and Zahoor Bhat are yet to finalize the squad.

The shortlisted players from both the provinces who have been training at Sheri-Kashmir Cricket Stadium for the last one week are waiting for the announcement of final squad for the Vijay Hazare trophy.

As per JKCA sources, JKCA CEO had promised that the new selectors would be soon in place but that has not happened till now. “Selectors after the resignation of two selectors met CEO and it was decided that new selectors would be inducted into committee. But that hasn’t materialized till now. Selectors are now in a fix what to do and they don’t have enough time left with them either. It is likely J&K team may be announced tomorrow,” sources said.

J&K is scheduled to play its first match of Vijaya Hazare tournament against Bengal at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering Ground, Chennai on September 20.
