Once completed, this will bring down road distance between Banihal and Qazigund by 16 kilometres. The tunnel will also bypass Jawahar Tunnel and Shaitan Nalla. The tunnel is equipped with a state-of-the-art exhaust system in order to remove gas and bring in fresh air. There are as many as 126 Jet fans, 234 CCTV cameras as well as a firefighting system installed in both tubes of the tunnel.
