3800 turn up for 8 posts of VLWs in Leh

In what points to rising joblessness in Leh, for 8 posts of Village Level Workers in the district, 3,800 candidates turned up for the written test on November 25. The test was conducted by district recruitment board, Leh, the Centre for Research on Ladakh in a statement said. 

It said the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC), Leh and Kargil, came into being in 1995 and with their formation, it was expected that job avenues in both the districts would increase,

   

It said the formation of the councils has no way increased the job avenues in the districts.

It said despite the formation of these councils “the power to create posts is with the state government”. 

It said “the Councils too are functioning on staff ‘borrowed’ from other departments on deputation basis.”
