Two UK returnees test COVID-19 positive; Samples sent to Delhi to confirm mutant strain

After a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, two fresh cases were reported in Kashmir on Saturday and were sent to Delhi to check whether the tests were mutant strain, officials said.

Dr. Bilquees Shah, Nodal officer for COVID-19 at JLNM hospital told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two male patients from Kashmir have been tested positive, whose samples have been sent to Delhi to check if they consist of new mutant strain or not.

   

“The duo are residents of Habak and Soura,” she said, adding that both the patients were travellers.

Around 90 cases of new mutant COVID strain have been reported across India so far.
