Deduct commercial water charges from PHE employees’ salaries: DDC Kishtwar to DTO

Taking a strong note of the misuse of water connections which the PHE department has allegedly provided to some blue-eyed people in the district, the District Development Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana on Monday reviewed the functioning of the PHE department, wherein threadbare deliberations were held regarding the mechanism adopted by the said department for water supply distribution in the town and adjoining areas.

During the meeting, it was found that the department has provided round the clock, one and half inch dia, water supply to a construction company from the Naigud gravity line for making bricks and water has been also provided to service stations for washing vehicles without charging any commercial rates from the said agencies, thereby causing huge loss to government exchequer.

The DDC directed District Treasury Officer Kishtwar to work out the commercial charges accumulated in favour of the construction company and owners of service stations and deduct the same from the salary of the officers/officials of the PHE department, who were found involved in providing water connections to them without fixing the commercial charges.

Meanwhile, Executive Engineer Hydraulic Division Kishtwar has been directed to legalize all water connections provided to the service stations functioning in the vicinity of Kishtwar town and its Mandal areas, and to fix the commercial charges in their favour from the date of installation of water supply connections.
