2G mobile internet to continue till August 19

Home Department has extended 2G speed mobile internet services in Jammu and Kashmir till August 19.

Based on a review of the current situation in the Union Territory, the Principal Secretary,

   

Home Department, Shaleen Kabra has ordered that 2G speed internet access across J&K will be made available with certain conditions till 19 August unless modified earlier.

As per the official order issued by the Home Department, a review of the situation was taken in the Union Territory in which the decision to extend 2G speed mobile internet was taken to stop “misuse in planning and executing militancy related acts including attacks on security forces, political workers and innocent civilians, facilitate infiltration, etc.” Justifying continuing 2G mobile internet speed in J&K, the Home Department has claimed that there “are inputs suggesting rise in the anti-national activities over the coming weeks, more so in view of completion of a year since implementation of the constitutional changes viz-a-viz J&K, Independence day celebrations, etc.”
