KU orders probe into question paper leak

Authorities at the University of Kashmir met embarrassment once again when a question paper was leaked before the scheduled test.

The varsity’s examinations department has once again failedto maintain the sanctity of the exams.

   

The question paper of English subject, 2nd semester, whichwas scheduled to be conducted at 3 pm on Thursday was widely shared on socialmessaging service WhatsApp a day before on Wednesday evening.

The issue came to the fore after a student from Kulgamdistrict posted on Facebook that he got the English subject question paper ofsecond semester 17 hours before the test was scheduled.

“On one hand students work hard to give their best in examsand on the other hand the question papers are sold and shared on social media.The trend will prove detrimental for the hardworking students and mars thesanctity of the exams,” said a college professor who wished not to be named.

Principal Degree College Kulgam also confirmed that thequestion paper was leaked before the exams.

“Yes, the paper was leaked and shared on social media. Iconveyed to the controller examination over telephone about the incident,” thecollege principal said.

Controller examinations, University of Kashmir, Prof FarooqAhmad Mir said a committee was constituted to probe the matter.

“We have constituted a committee headed by additionalcontroller to investigate into the matter. They have been asked to submit thereport within four days. I won’t remain silent on this issue,” Prof Mir said.

Meanwhile, a few hours before the test for environmentalscience was to commence, the university also postponed the exam which wasscheduled for May 11.

“There were rumours that EVS paper has also got leaked andis being shared on social media. We had to be on a safer side and postponed theexam,” Prof Mir said.
