Fire outbreak at Hyderabad Numaish: PDP, KCCI demand govt support for affected Kashmiri artisans

Peoples Democratic Party and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) have expressed sorrow over the major fire breakout on Wednesday evening at Nampally, Telengana Hyderabad Numaish, an annual craft exhibition held in Hyderabad city, in which a number of Kashmiri craftsmen have installed their stalls and faced huge damage to their inventory.

Chief spokesperson of PDP, Rafi Ahmad Mir, according to a party statement, has demanded the state government to provide immediate assistance to Kashmir based craftsmen who were participating in the annual exhibition at Hyderabad. 

   

Mir said that around 300 artisans and traders from Kashmir had set up shop there and stock worth crores have been damaged. While asking state government to intervene, Mir urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to appoint a special liaison officer to provide them succour.

In a separate statement, KCCI while expressing grief over the incident said most of the stalls in the exhibition belonged to Kashmiri traders and where displaying   dry fruits, Shawls, leather goods etc and it is anticipated that there is  loss worth crores. 

KCCI president Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad while taking cognizance of the incident talked over phone to the Telangana home minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali who immediately assured rehabilitation, compensation and full support to the effected traders.

According to KCCI, Ali also promised  to rehabilitate  the exhibitors in four days and extension  for  15 days of this said exhibition without any charges.
