Rather demands compensation for hailstorm affected farmers in Charar-e-Sharief

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and former finance minister Abdul Rahim Rathar on Monday expressed grief over losses to people following recent hailstorm and incessant rains across the central Kashmir’s Charar-e-Sharief constituency.

Rathar while underscoring the need of compensating thelosses to farmers, orchardists said, “The orchardists, farmers have sufferedimmense losses to their standing crops. The road connectivity of the varioushamlets has got disconnected due to damage to the connecting road links,culverts. The power supply and the steady supply of water haven’t been resumedin various hamlets. The higher reaches of the constituency are still reelingunder darkness.”

   

“It was expected of the government to depute revenue teamsto hail storm areas to ascertain the magnitude of material losses to people;however the government has miserably failed to come to the rescue of familiesunder duress. It is the prime duty of the administration to come to the rescueof those who stand worst affected due to the vagaries of weather.”

Rathar also toured the hailstorm hit hamlets of Zinpanchal,Gunde Shamus, Kan Dajan, Futlipra, Hardu Dalwan, Checki Karpora, Shankarpora,Karpora, chrari Pora, Pakharpora. While making stopovers at various places heinteracted with the people who apprised him about the problems they are facingfollowing the havoc played by the hail storm in their hamlets.

“I urge the governor administration to depute revenue teamsto the affected areas to determine the losses to farmers.
