State Taxes Deptt conducts enforcement drive to ensure GST compliance

J&K GST growth stumbles, revenue drops by 2% to Rs 789 Crore in April

Srinagar, Dec 9: Under the overall directions of Commissioner State Taxes J&K, Dr Rashmi Singh, various wings of the department today carried out surprise inspections of various places to ensure strict compliance of GST law and interacted with various stakeholders to ensure better awareness of GST law.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah today conducted an inspection drive in Anantnag.

   

During the inspection drive, records were seized from about one dozen traders dealing with various commodities.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the dealers/trades to show compliance towards GST Act and also added that these types of inspection drives shall be carried out on a routine basis to check tax evasion.

Accompanying the DC were, Farooq Ahmad Dar (STO), Aadil Yousuf Wani (STO), inspectors and sub-inspectors of the department.

At the same time, the Enforcement (Central) wing of the State Taxes Department Kashmir conducted a special enforcement drive in the city.

The drive was carried out at the Srinagar airport and transport yard under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Enforcement (Central) Kashmir Parveez Ahmad Raina and Assistant Commissioner Shabnam Rashid, respectively.

The drive, during which various consignments were checked, was aimed at creating deterrence against purchases made in the name of unregistered persons, besides spreading awareness about GST compliance among various dealers.

The search teams comprised State Taxes Officers, Inspectors, Sub-inspectors and guards of the Enforcement (Central) wing of the department.

The drive was conducted in an organised manner at both locations and remained effective, leading to the detection of various deficiencies and consequent seizures and penalty realisations.

Meanwhile, team members also engaged with various stakeholders and imparted awareness about GST compliance.

Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner State Taxes Kashmir, Shakeel Maqbool while interacting with stakeholders reiterated that the department will take every measure to ensure awareness and compliance of GST towards growth of revenue and ease of compliance.
