Kishtwar residents stage protest against health deptt

To express their resentment over the “attitude” of doctors posted in district hospital Kishtwar, who allegedly are not attending their duties on time, people held a protest against the hospital management, including chief medical officer (CMO) Kishtwar, on Monday.

A large number of people gathered outside the district hospital and staged a demonstration. They demanded strict action against the “erring” doctors, who allegedly report to duties after 11 am on a daily basis.

They protesters alleged that the doctors, instead of attending patients at the hospital, prefer private practices in their respective clinics. “As the NHM employees are on strike to get their demands fulfilled, we are unable to understand why regular doctors are not performing their duties honestly. They (doctors) are playing with the lives of poor masses,” they alleged.

They appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik and deputy commissioner Angrez Singh Rana to personally intervene in the matter and redress the problems.

They also warned that if their problems are not resolved within 2-3 days, all the people of Kishtwar will come onto the roads and launch a massive agitation.
