Ram Navmi celebrated with religious fervour in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 17: On the occasion of Ram Navmi, Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus took out a religious procession Shobha Yatra’ here.
The procession was taken out from the Habba Kadal area to Lal Chowk. Various Hindu and Pandit community members were seen wearing colorful costumes on the occasion.. Among elders, the children and female members of were also part of the yatra that passed through the heart of Downtown Srinagar.

One of the major gatherings was held at Kaplishwar Mandir at Habba Kadal, where from Shobha Yatra was taken out. Jagdish Bhardwaj, priest of the temple, said that the festival was celebrated with religious fervour among the community. He said that Puja and other religious programms were also held.

   

“We also took out the Shobha Yatra in which scores of Hindu community members participated. During this festival, we worship various deities and pray for peace and prosperity.

The Muslim community in Kashmir always provides us the much-needed support, and this is a great symbol of peace and prosperity. The administration had also made the necessary arrangements for the day. We prayed for the peace and prosperity of the whole of Kashmir,” Bharadwaj said

In addition to the local pandit community, many tourists also participated in the yatra.
