1 coronavirus patient cured in Jammu, 2 in Ladakh

In an encouraging development, one patient in Jammu and two others in Ladakh who had earlier tested positive for covid-19 and were in isolation have been discharged from the respective hospitals they were admitted at, after they showed “symptoms of recovery”, officials said on Tuesday.

Commissioner SecretaryLadakh, Rigzin Samphel said that reports of eighteen samples were received outof which 15 were from Kargil and 3 from Leh and all the reports were negative.”The reports included those of two patients who had earlier tested positive forcovid-19 and were in isolation,” he said.

   

“Technically, now we have only 11covid-19 positive cases as compared to earlier 13 cases because two of themhave tested negative. The two were shifted from the isolation ward of thehospital to a quarantine facility. They will remain under surveillance,”Samphel said.

He said the reports of aboutother 30 samples are awaited.  It is tomention that no fresh case of coronavirus has been reported in Ladakh unionterritory for last one week.

The authorities have alreadyordered a lockdown in both the districts Leh and Kargil.

Meanwhile, Deputy CommissionerKargil Baseer ul haq Chaudhary said at least 30 people who returned fromforeign countries and had concealed their travel history were traced.

Patient discharged in Jammu

Meanwhile, one COVID-19 positivepatient was discharged from Government Medical College and Hospital today afterthe doctors said she was cured. The patient had been admitted in the isolationward of the hospital after she had tested positive for coronavirus on March 10.

The girl has cured, an officialconfirmed.

According to sources the girl hadcome in contact with a covid-19 positive lady who had returned from Iran and isstill under observation in GMC Jammu’s isolation ward.

Meanwhile, a general surgeon atthe GMC Jammu who was on duty had complained chest pain, breathlessness andcough, yesterday. “He was shifted to the isolation ward of the hospitaland his sample was taken for test. Though he had symptoms, but he has testednegative,” said a colleague of the doctor.

He said the surgeon is improvingand is likely to be shifted to general ward.

OPDs closed in Jammu Hospitals

Almost all the hospitals in Jammuhave closed the Out Patient Departments (OPDs) to focus on suspectedcoronavirus cases.

“The hospital authoritieshave been arranging beds and other equipment required for the quarantinecenters,” said a doctor.

Meanwhile, authorities havedecided to establish isolation wards in some hospitals in Jammu. It has been decidedthat patients at Psychiatric Hospital will be shifted to CD Hospital Jammu.

In Kishtwar, the civiladministration has transformed as many as 13 government buildings intoquarantine centers.
