DC Pulwama recommends FIR against student who concealed travel history

DC Pulwama on Sunday recommended an FIR against a female student who returned from Pakistan but did not disclose her travel history to authorities here.

The suggestion came following a number of cases coming tofore in Jammu and Kashmir wherein the travelers landing from abroad, fearingbeing quarantined, have concealed their journey to the authorities.

An official said the girl student from Awantipora Tehsilafter returning from Pakistan tried to circumvent the screening andsurveillance teams and went into hiding.

However, she was traced and screened.

“She had no symptoms for the coronavirus but has been sentto a quarantine facility for 14 days as per the set protocol,” the officialsaid.

The official said the FIR was recommended under section 269IPC (unlawfully or negligently doing something which is likely to spreadinfection of any dangerous disease to life), section 270 IPC (malignant actlikely to spread infection of dangerous disease to life), section 271 IPC(knowingly disobeying any quarantine rule) and section 188 IPC (for disobeyingany Government order).

DC Pulwama has appealed the people to disclose their travelhistory voluntarily.

“I appeal to the general public to cooperate with theadministration in this unprecedented situation and proactively disclosetheir  travel history, of their relativesand of neighbours,” he said.

He warned that concealment of travel history orcircumvention of screening would force the authorities to invoke relevantsections of IPC and stringent action would be initiated as per law.
