Rajouri, Dec 23: J&K government Saturday announced compensation and job on compassionate basis to the Next of Kin (NoK) of three civilians, who were found dead near the site of anti-terror operation in Bufliyaz area of Poonch district.
The government also announced that the medico-legal formalities were conducted and legal action in case of death of these three civilians was also initiated by the appropriate authority.
As per reports, these three local men, hailing from Topa Peer village near Bufliyaz, Friday died under mysterious circumstances, triggering panic as well as anger among the local population, especially their
relatives.
Reports quoting their relatives alleged that they were among those detained earlier by army for questioning in case of Thursday’s terrorist attack at Dehra Ki Gali (DKG) near Bufliyaz, wherein four army personnel were killed and three others were injured.
These three deceased civilians have been identified as Safeer Hussain (43), Muhammad Showkat (27) and Muhammad Shabir (32).
This morning, the Department of Information and Public Relations of J&K (DIPR, J&K), in a post on ‘X’, wrote, “Death of three civilians was reported yesterday in #Baffliyaz of #Poonch District. The medico legal formalities were conducted and legal action in this matter has been initiated by the appropriate authority. Government has announced compensation for each of the deceased. Further Government has also announced compassionate appointments to the next of kin of each deceased.”
During the day, the army also announced to extend its full cooperation in the investigation.
After the news of their mysterious death spread in the area, their relatives assembled, protesting and calling for an in-depth probe to ascertain the cause of their death.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch along with other officers of civil administration and police also camped in Bufliyaz area last night and got the post mortem examination of bodies of the deceased conducted.
On Saturday, all three deceased were laid to rest in their native village in presence of a large number of people who attended the last rites and offered prayers.
Meanwhile, five men from Thanamandi sub division area of Rajouri district were hospitalised after they were beaten up by some unknown men in the area.
These five persons, who hailed from Bhangai as well as Hasplote villages of Thanamandi sub division, were brought to CHC Thanamandi during the intervening night of December 22 and 23 from where they were shifted to GMC AH Rajouri. They all are under treatment there.
Senior officers of civil and police administration also met these people.
