Non-local vendor shot dead in Anantnag

Srinagar, Apr 17: Terrorists Wednesday evening shot dead a non-local vendor in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district following which a manhunt was launched to track the attackers.
After the attack, all entry and exit points of nearby areas were sealed by security forces and a massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched.
“He was a vendor by profession. We are investigating,” Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi told Greater Kashmir. “A massive search operation to nab the terrorists is underway.”

The non-local vendor was identified as Raja Shah, son of Shankar of Bihar.
He was critically injured in the terror attack and succumbed to injuries at a hospital.

The incident took place when terrorists fired at him from point-blank range, causing severe injuries.
According to officials, Shah was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Bijbehara in critical condition after sustaining two gunshot wounds, one in the neck and the other in the abdomen.

Despite immediate medical attention, he could not survive the injuries sustained in the attack.
After the incident, senior Police officers visited the spot to ascertain the situation.

“We are investigating and a massive search operation in the area is underway,” a senior Police officer said.
This is the second terror attack in south Kashmir during the past fortnight.

On April 9, terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian district targeted a non-local driver hailing from Delhi.
Security has been tightened in the area.

The attack comes at a time when only a day has been left for the first phase of general elections.
Voting will be held in the Udhampur constituency of the Jammu region in the first phase on April 19.
