PM Modi compliments ‘sisters and brothers’ of Baramulla for high voter turnout

Srinagar, May 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday complimented the people of Baramulla for turning up in huge numbers to vote during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

“Compliments to my sisters and brothers of Baramulla for their unbreakable commitment to democratic values. Such active participation is a great trend,” said Modi while responding to a post on X by Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha who had said that the high voter turnout is very encouraging.

“High voter turnout, over 58% in Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, is very encouraging and shows the people’s determination and unwavering faith in democracy. I congratulate and thank the people of Baramulla for joining the Maha Kumbh of our democracy in large numbers,” the LG had posted on X.

“Fractional correction is expected in the percentage figure, as at some of the polling stations voting continued even after 6 pm and many polling parties are yet to reach the reception centre. This remarkable participation marks a new era of peace and civic engagement in these districts,” read a communiqué issued last evening by the office of J&K Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K Pole.
