Government to utilise technological innovations to protect against animal attacks

New Delhi, Feb 22:  In the wake of increasing incidents involving tiger and elephant attacks claiming human lives in Wayanad, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, undertook a visit to the homes of the deceased.

The minister is on a two-day journey to Wayanad, where he paid respects at the residences of victims who fell prey to the ferocity of wild animals.

   

During his visit, Minister Yadav offered condolences to the bereaved families of Prajeesh, who succumbed to a tiger attack, and Paul and Ajeesh, who lost their lives in encounters with elephants. Engaging with the grieving relatives and residents, Minister Yadav acknowledged the pressing issue of human-animal conflict prevailing in the region.

Expressing the government’s commitment, Minister Yadav pledged comprehensive support, both politically and administratively, to the officials and scientists dedicated to resolving such conflicts.

Recognising the cross-border nature of the problem involving Karnataka and Kerala, he emphasised ongoing dialogues with relevant authorities from both states. Highlighting the urgency of the matter, Minister Yadav announced plans to convene with local administration officials and non-governmental organizations on February 22nd to chart out effective strategies.

“We are guided by the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, emphasizing the equal importance of environment and human life,” stated Minister Yadav. While acknowledging the plight of animals, he stressed the paramount importance of leveraging technological advancements to safeguard human lives.

Against the backdrop of escalating human-animal conflicts, where the toll on human lives continues to rise, Minister Bhupender Yadav’s visit underscores the imperative for collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to mitigate such tragedies and foster harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife.
