Govt announces election days as paid holidays

Srinagar, April 01: The J&K govt on Monday announced paid holidays to be observed on particular voting days in specific districts across the Union Territory.

According to an official order, the following parliamentary constituencies shall observe paid holidays: Udhampur on 19th April, Jammu on 26th April, Anantnag-Rajouri on 7th May, Srinagar on 13th May, and Baramulla on 20th May.

   

These poll days shall be observed as paid holidays by every person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment and is entitled to vote, read the official order.

Daily wagers and casual labourers shall also be entitled to the holiday, the order said.

“A person who is ordinarily resident of a constituency and is registered as an elector, serving or employed in an industrial undertaking or an establishment located outside the constituency including casual workers shall also be entitled to a paid holiday on the day of poll, the order said.
