Govt employees, pensioners to get revised DA

Jammu, May 21:  The J&K government employees, working in regular pay levels under 7th Pay Commission recommendations; pensioners and family pensioners will get Dearness Allowance (DA) at an enhanced rate of fifty percent from the existing rate of forty-six percent, with effect from January 1, 2024.

As per an order issued by Principal Secretary Finance Santosh D Vaidya, in continuation to the Government Order No. 232-F of 2023 dated December 12, 2023, the government employees, working in regular pay levels under 7th Pay Commission recommendations, will be paid DA at a revised rate of 50 percent of Basic Pay from the existing 46 percent of Basic Pay per month.

   

“The term ‘Basic Pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the pay matrix as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations but does not include any other type of pay like special pay etc,” the order read.

As per the order, the arrears on account of an additional installment of DA with effect from January 2024 to April 2024 will be paid in cash in May 2024 and will form part of the monthly salary from May 2024 onwards.

A separate order, issued in continuation to the government order No 233-F of 2023 dated December 12, 2023, said that the government pensioners and family pensioners would also be paid DA at a revised rate of 50 percent of basic pension or basic family pension from the existing rate of 46 percent per month.

“The arrears on account of additional installment of Dearness Allowance with effect from January 2024 to April 2024 shall be paid in cash in May 2024 and shall form part of the monthly pension or family pension from May 2024 onwards,” the order read.

“Other provisions governing the grant of Dearness Allowance on pension or family pension such as the regulations of Dearness Allowance during employment or re-employment where more than one pension is drawn etc. and other provisions of the existing rules or orders (as are not in conflict with provisions of this order), shall continue to remain in force,” it said.
