NIA had probed sacked BSF man for “possible foreign contacts” after poor quality food video surfaced

Sacked BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav who had posted video complaining about poor quality food served to soldiers, was probed by National Investigation Agency (NIA) “for possible foreign contacts”, said a media report.

According to the report in The Indian Express, the NIA looked at Yadav’s social media profiles as well as his call detail records, but did not find anything.

Yadav had moved court in a bid to get back his job on Tuesday.

BSF Director General K K Sharma sought an NIA probe on January 18 last year, a few days after Yadav posted the video clips, mentioned the report.

“But as such no proof is available in communication/ post/ chat that have been seen/ tracked on Facebook as well as Twitter account, which could be harming national interest. His phone/ electronic devices data also didn’t revealed any information about his foreign contacts, documents, audio or any incriminating images,” report quoted the NIA probe.

The NIA probe according to the report also revealed that it “didn’t reflect any foreign contacts”.

Yadav was posted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district when his video went viral. He according to the report said that he had pointed out the issue of food quality to his immediate seniors — ASI Gurdeep Singh, ASI Tej Pal Singh and the mess commander, Ct U Vasudeva Rao — but no action was taken.
