2 killed, as many injured in road mishaps: Police

At least two people died and as many sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Jammu region on Wednesday, said police.

They said that a girl, Chahat Devi (8) daughter of Nanak Singh of Sarora, Akalpur, Jammu was hit by a motorcycle at Sarora, Akalpur.

   

“She was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu where doctors declared her as dead on arrival,” police said.

At Bantallab, Jammu, police said one Parshotam Lal (28) son of Gandharv Chand of Roop Nagar, Jammu sustained injuries when the motorcycle he was riding on, was hit by a Verna Car.

He was rushed to GMC&H where doctors declared him as “brought dead”

Bodies of both the deceased were handed over to their family members after performing the legal formalities.

Meanwhile, two persons identified as Gian Chand (80) son of late Anant Ram and his son Dwarka Nath (60) resident of Bishnah sustained injuries when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle at Swanka Morh, Vijaypur. 

The injured father-son duo was taken to local hospital in Vijaypur where after preliminary treatment; the doctors referred them to GMC&H Jammu for advanced treatment.

When this report last poured in, the duo was responding to the treatment. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started further investigation.
