Chaos in DC office as Lal Singh by-passes queue

Chaos was witnessed in deputy commissioner’s office Jammu, as former minister and BJP rebel Choudhary Lal Singh entered the chamber of returning officer to file his papers by-passing others in the queue.

Witnesses said that Lal Singh arrived in the office andstraightaway entered the office of the RO, while other candidate and theirrepresentatives were waiting for their turn.

   

They raised slogans against the deputy commissioner andpolice authorities who, they said, allowed Lal Singh to supersede otherscandidates.

“This is injustice with other candidates who are sincerelywaiting for their turn outside the chamber,” said Congress leader and proposerof party candidate Raman Bhalla.

Prof. Bhim Singh, contesting candidate of JKNPP, urged ChiefElection Commissioner of India to intervene urgently to ensure that unwantedelements are not allowed to bulldoze office of the Returning Officer.

“The Returning Officer allowed independent candidate tobulldoze office by pushing out the senior candidates of recognized politicalparties at Jammu this afternoon at about 2.25 p.m,” Bhim Singh said, urgingElection Commission of India for immediate intervention so that ReturningOfficer of Jammu acts according to the rules.

He also urged President of India, Ramnath Kovind, for hisimmediate intervention so that filing of nomination papers for the Lok Sabhaelections are conducted according to the law of land “and not by goondaism ofsome favourites of J&K bureaucracy and police.” He also appealed GovernorSatya Paul Malik to intervene so that election rules are not flouted.

Later, the deputy commissioner Jammu allowed all thecandidates to sit in his chamber.
