Close corruption windows: Ruling coalition MLA embarrasses Government

Peoples Conference MLA from Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar, on Monday said the government should close the ‘windows of corruption’ to carry forward the developmental works in the state. Peoples Conference is an ally of BJP and is part of the ruling coalition in the State.

The PC lawmaker was speaking in the assembly during the discussion on 2018-19 budget and said corruption was the only impediment in taking forward the developmental works.

“Government should take steps to address this issue because corruption has become a nuisance in the state. Moral speeches to officers won’t yield any results but government should close all the windows of corruption to make J&K a developed state,” MLA Kupwara said.

The ruling MLA said the government should implement the budget in letter and spirit on ground. “A mechanism should be devised to implement the budget in letter and sprit,” he said.

Dar said the present government has got liabilities from past dispensation which should be cleared to boost the economy of the state.

“In my constituency projects are pending from 2009 and I hope government will take steps to complete them. If the liabilities are not cleared it will affect our economy,” MLA Dar said.

Hinting that government was biased towards taking developmental works in some areas, Dar said all the areas across state should get equal share of funds for development. “A particular area should not be given preference over other areas,” he said.

The ruling party legislator said the government should also consider up-gradation of health sector in Kupwara district. “But the irony is that government shifts doctors from my area and gets them posted in city or towns due to which people are deprived of health care facilities,” he said.

He further said MLAs should be given a role in panchayat elections saying that ignoring legislators will weaken the institution (House). “We are elected representatives of our areas and we should not be ignored in Panchayat polls,” he said.
