Cong, AP, PDP, join hands with BJP, stage protest against ‘bogus voting’

Massive protest demonstration took place against alleged bogus voting in ten polling stations in Kishtwar District Development Council (DDC) elections.

The objection was raised by BJP during counting at the counting centre in Kishtwar town when they noted that two votes were more than the total number of voters.

“BJP, Congress Party, Apni Party and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) organised protests against the counting centre against bogus voting in ten polling stations,” BJP President, Kishtwar District, Pardeep Parihar told Greater Kashmir.

Parihar said that “They had already cautioned the district administration a few days back about alleged bogus voting in some of the polling stations for DDC Constituency of Kishtwar.”

BJP President, Kishtwar, Pardeep Parihar: “The votes of the persons who were not present in Kishtwar during the polling days have also casted their votes i.e., from Jammu, and other places.”

“Votes of dead persons have also been casted,” he claimed. Meanwhile, the eyewitnesses said that the protesting political parties were demanding re-polling for DDC Kishtwar constituency. Excluding the National Conference, the eyewitnesses said, the polling agents of other political parties have left the counting center in protest.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma said: “There was an issue at the counting centre for DDC Constituency Kishtwar. During counting of votes, two votes were more which led to the issue and it is being worked-out.”

Sharma said that the counting of votes have been stopped for the last 30 minutes, and it will resume soon. Sharma said that “Only 2 rounds of counting has completed. I think the counting will be completed by late night.” For DDC Kishtwar constituency, he said, there were nine candidates in fray for the seat.
