Hooligans cut off water supply to Muslims in Rasana village after murder of minor girl: NC legislator

An opposition legislator on Thursday alleged that “hooligans” have cut off supply of drinking water to Muslim community in Rasana village of Kathua following the murder of an eight-year-old Bakerwal girl last month.

During the question hour, National Conference MLA from Mendhar Assembly segment Javed Rana said that the minority community is being harassed by hooligans in Samba, Jammu and Kathua.

“The anti-social elements have stopped supply of drinking water to the minority community in the area. The water supply should be immediately restored to them,” he demanded.

Independent legislator Er Rasheed had on Tuesday also raised the issue during a press conference in Srinagar.

“While the local population of both the communities was united to condemn the incident, unfortunately MLA Hiranagar Deepak Sharma and MLA Samba DK Malyal visited village Rasana later and held deliberations with people of one particular community and things changed all of a sudden,” he said.

“After having the discussion with them, from the next day whole system changes altogether. Situation takes an ugly communal turn. Water supply is stopped to the people of Rasana village where Muslims live”.
