Jammu and Kashmir: Govt orders magisterial inquiry into murder of Kathua girl

The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the murder of 8-year-old Kathua girl following protests by the opposition in the legislative assembly.

Responding to the opposition, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs informed the House that government will hold a magisterial probe into the murder.

“The concerned deputy commissioner will conduct the inquiry,” he said.

The Minister made the statement after opposition staged protests in the House and demanded action against the police officers for failing to trace the girl after she went missing on January 10.

“Where was SHO? Where was SSP?” asked Congress legislator GM Saroori.

NC MLA Main Altaf also demanded a time-bound probe in the murder.

The body of the minor girl was found a week after she went missing in bushes in Hiranagar village.
