Kashmiri students allege harassment, thrashing in Haryana, Dehradun

Kashmiri students studying in Haryana and Dehradun colleges on Friday alleged harassment and thrashing by the mob.

A student, Amir Hussain of Shopian, studying in MM University, Ambala, Haryana, told Greater Kashmir over phone that one of their colleagues has been thrashed by the mob. “We were in the market when a group of protesters shouting anti-Kashmiri slogans beat one of us black and blue,” Amir said, adding, some of them have eaten nothing from Thursday fearing attacks by the mob outside.

   

According to Amir, there are around 200 Kashmiri students who are stuck at MM University. He appealed Jammu and Kashmir government to request the Haryana authorities to ensure their safety.

Muhammad Saleem, of Bandipora and student of Dev Bhoomi University, Dehradun, claimed that at around 3 pm, the varsity VC, registrar and other officials asked them to vacate their hostels while expressing their (authorities) helplessness to save the Kashmiri students from mob outside.

According to Saleem, there are around 50 Kashmiri students in the college.

“We appeal the State government to extend the helping hand to protect us from the violent protesters outside,” he appealed.
