Responsibility on our shoulders to uphold constitution: DGP

Jammu, Nov 26: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Friday said that the responsibility of upholding constitution was on the shoulders of the soldiers.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that addressing a function organised by J&K Police at Police Headquarters here, Singh said, “As responsible members of the force we have supreme responsibility on our shoulders to protect and uphold the constitution.”

   

He said that the J&K Police personnel were working with utmost dedication to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country and this force stands firm despite massive challenges.

Appreciating the commitment and resolve of the Police personnel, Singh said that it was because of the dedicated efforts of the soldiers working on ground that this force was progressing fast towards its mission of peace.

He said that it was on this day in 1949 that the constitution was dedicated to the people of democratic India.

“This day has an immense historical importance for all of us and today we rededicate ourselves to those great ideals and the spirit of our constitution,” he said. “Today we are taking the pledge to rededicate ourselves for the service of the nation and its people.”

Singh said that for the situation in J&K, it was natural to have ups and downs but putting consistent efforts in every situation was the hallmark of J&K Police.

ADGP Headquarters M K Sinha read out the preamble of the constitution to the gathering of officers and personnel of different wings of J&K Police.

ADGPs S J M Gillani and Danesh Rana, and IGP CIV Alok Kumar attended the function.

AIG Training and Policy J S Johar read out the preamble to over 100 trainees and NCB officers at the Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground where a specialised training course was going on.
