Doctors, paramedics protest after forces allegedly fire shots into hospital building in Shopian

Doctors and paramedical staff on Monday held a sit-in outside the sub-district hospital Shopian to protest against the alleged indiscriminate firing at the hospital by the forces last night.

A source said that the doctors met the deputy commissioner (DC) Shopian and presented him a memorandum. The protesting doctors sought an investigation into the incident.

The doctors, according to the source, told the DC that forces resorted to unprovoked firing inside the hospital premises last night.

Reports said that the forces fired several shots into the casualty block and the blood bank inside the hospital following a heated argument with a doctor.

Scores of injured people were rushed to the hospital following yesterday’s clashes in the Shopian district.
