Engineers seek deferment of PDD’s amnesty scheme

J&K electric Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) on Tuesday urged the government to defer the power amnesty scheme for consumers, saying thousands of people visiting the offices every day put them to threat, amid Coronavirus scare.

The Association, in a statement, said: “In view of the launch of JKPDD Amnesty scheme, the sub-division offices of distribution wing are witnessing unprecedented rush of consumers.

   

As you are aware that COVID-19 outbreak has spread across the globe as well to the UT of J&K and government has banned public entry in civil secretariat as well as other offices and has closed down all educational institutions and public parks, the association requests to defer the JKPDD Amnesty scheme till we get some reprieve from this outbreak as precautionary measure,” reads the statement.

President JKEEGA, Pirzada Hidayatullah said a large numberof power consumers turn up at sub division offices of KPDCL on daily basisputting them at risk.

“Werequest the scheme should be deferred for some time keeping in view theoutbreak. We don’t wear any safety gear and we have to attend to thousands ofconsumers on daily basis,” he said.

The government had recently launched the scheme forconsumers to waive off penalty fee of pending bills.
