ETT scam: CB gets 3 weeks to file probe report

The High Court on Monday granted three more weeks to the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir police to submit a report pertaining to the probe into multi-crore Elementary Teacher Training admission scam.

A division bench of Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey and Justice Sanjeev Kumar extended the time for filing of the report following submission by state’s senior additional advocate general, B A Dar.

Dar told the court that the investigation is underway and further time may be granted to the Crime Branch to file the report.

During an earlier hearing, the court had observed that there “seemed to be a clear collusion” between officials of the school education department and those against whom FIR had been filed.

The court had issued the direction after it was informed that officials of the school education department were not cooperating with the Crime Branch which was leading to delay in the investigation of the case.

The Court had directed director, school education, to ensure that officials of the education department cooperate with the investigating agency.

After the scam surfaced, the CB had registered two cases (FIR No 27/2013, P/S Crime Branch, Kashmir and FIR No 36/2013, Crime Branch, Jammu) under section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act as well as RPC sections of 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), 471 (counterfeit seal).
