Haryana, J&K Wakf Boards join hands to facilitate admissions in MEC

The J&K Wakf Board has joined hands with the Haryana Wakf Board to facilitate admission of students from J&K in Mewat Engineering College (MEC) of Haryana. MEC has been established by the Haryana Wakf Board and is being funded by Haryana government.

J&K Wakf Board has been appointed as nodal agency forthe students seeking admission in the college.

   

In this regard, Chief Executive Officer Haryana, Dr HanifQureshi, who is also serving as IGP (Law and order) Haryana, has written aletter to the J&K Wakf Board.

As per the letter, J&K Wakf Board has been requested toprovide ‘suitable space’ for “admission office” and appoint a nodal officer inthe state for the admission of students in the college.

“The MEC is a minority institution but is open to allsections of the society. We wish that your office can open an admission officein a suitable space and depute at least two officers for various admissionrelated works,” reads the letter addressed to CEO J&K Wakf Board, BashirAhmad Dar.

In its response to the letter, the J&K Wakf Board hasappointed its secretary, Showkat Ahmad Beig as nodal officer for studentsseeking admission in the college.

Recently, a team of faculty members from the college was onvisit to Kashmir and held meetings with the J&K Wakf Board regarding theadmission process in the college.

The college offers admissions in Civil Engineering,Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics andCommunication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

“The fee for male students is Rs 39,500 per year while it isRs 19750 for girl students. Lateral entry for diploma holders is also allowedin the college,” public relation officer of the college told Greater Kashmir.

The Hayrana Wakf Board has approached the J&K Wakf Boardmonths after the valley students studying in various colleges of Haryana wereintimidated and beaten by the local mob.

“Our college is safe for Muslim community. We already have50 students from J&K. Our basic motive of visiting Valley and joining handswith J&K Wakf Board is to benefit the Valley students,” the PRO of thecollege said.

“We offer admission to minority students and want thatJ&K students should get benefited from it,” he said.

The college is AICTE approved and is affiliated withGurugram University of Haryana. The fee structure of the college has beenapproved by the state fee committee of Haryana government

The college also provides concession in the admission to themeritorious students having above 80 percent marks in class 12th exams.

Secretary J&K Wakf Board Showkat Beig confirmed thatthey have agreed to act as nodal agency for valley students seeking admissionin MEC, Harayana. “Students who are planning to get admission in the collegeshould approach our office. They will be guided properly,” he said.
