Terming the non- implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir a big question mark on the credibility, relevance, purpose and existence of United Nations (UN), the People’s Political Party (PPP) chairman Er Hilal Ahmad War today urged the UN Secretary General to implement these resolutions.
“The unimplemented UN plebiscite resolutions on Kashmir, 18 in number, passed from time-to-time but not implemented is the sad commentary on the existence and relevance of UN,” Er Hilal War, in a statement today, said.
War said, “Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the Kashmiri Diaspora in the different countries of the world observe January 5 each year as the Right to Self-determination Day to remind the world community that the UN resolutions on Kashmir remain unimplemented. On this day in 1949, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted a resolution, acknowledging the Kashmiris’ right of self-determination.”
