In viral video, militant seen emerging alive from rubble of house damaged in Budgam gunfight

A militant on Wednesday survived the fierce gunfight and emerged unharmed from the rubble of a house which was badly damaged by explosives in Chattergam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Naveed Jatt was killed along with an associate who is yet to be identified in the gunfight that broke out early today in Kuthipora area, police said.

   

A purported video recorded in the aftermath of the gunfight showed a militant armed with an assault rifle being whisked away by youth who had gathered at the house.

The video has since gone viral on social media and other messaging platforms.

The authenticity of the video couldn’t be independently authenticated.

The police couldn’t be reached for a comment on the veracity of the video.
