J&K govt distributed 1.03 lakh MT foodgrains among beneficiaries in May

Srinagar June 8: The Jammu and Kashmir government distributed over one lakh metric tons of foodgrains to the beneficiaries across the UT in the month of May, a government handout said on Tuesday.

As per the handout, a total of 1.03 MT foodgrains was distributed by the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department among beneficiaries across the J&K districts in May, 2021.

   

A total of 35190.20 MT foodgrains were distributed under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) achieving a foodgrain distribution target of 96. 20 %, it said.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKAY), 31791.44 MT foodgrains were distributed among the beneficiaries achieving a target of 95.91%, it added.

As per the handout, a total of 16068.06 MT foodgrains were distributed under the non-NFSA window while 20159.13 MT foodgrains were distributed under the J&K government-run Jammu and Kashmir Food Entitlement Scheme (JKFES).

The government said the FCS&CA department has started an additional cycle of free distribution of ration to AAY and Priority Households (PHs) as directed by the Centre under PMGKAY scheme.

Besides, J&K has been placed at the 6th position in terms of the highest number of transactions through the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) by achieving the target of 3,406 ONORC transactions from July 2020 to May 2021.
