JKSSB ‘sits on’ changing bonafide certificates format, candidates distressed

The candidates shortlisted for the post of Panchayat Account Assistant (PAA) have been left “high and dry” over the delay by the J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB) to make the changes in the “flawed” format designed to obtain the “bonafide certificates” from outside universities.

As already reported by Greater Kashmir, the JKSSB is demanding outside universities to follow its “archaic norms” by refusing to entertain their standard certificates.

The issue has marred the selection of hundreds of the candidates who had applied for the post of PAA.

The selected candidates who have pursued their undergraduate or postgraduate courses from outside colleges and universities have been asked by the JKSSB to produce a “bonafide certificate” from the concerned institutions as per the format devised by the JKSSB.

However, the “bonafide certificate” produced by the universities outside J&K in favour of the students does not match the format designed by the JKSSB.

Greater Kashmir earlier reported the issue wherein the Chairman JKSSB had said that the issue would be resolved for the convenience of the candidates.

There are around 1889 vacancies of PAA for which JKSSB has shortlisted around 4000 candidates for document verification.

Among those who have been called for document verification include over 300 candidates who pursued their degrees from outside universities and have been asked to get the “bonafide certificate” as per the JKSSB format.

The exam for the post was conducted by the JKSSB in November last year followed by the declaration of the results in the last week of December.

“JKSSB is not giving clarification on bonafide certificate format. The final list will be published in a couple of days. We are worried that we will lose the opportunity for this job as the board is not accepting our bonafide certificates given by our universities,” said an aggrieved candidate.

The candidates said that they approached JKSSB several times to inquire about the changes made in the format devised to obtain the “bonafide certificate”.

“But they don’t give any reply to our pleas,” the candidates said.

Chairman JKSSB, Khalid Jehangir told Greater Kashmir that they would address the issue after completing document verification of the candidates.

“Our members in JKSSB will get free once the document verification gets completed. They will resolve the grievance of these candidates after that,” he said
