The J&K Teachers Association (JKTA) on Monday expressed concern over the government move for assessing the Teachers post Integrated Multidisciplinary Professional Advancement Course for Teachers (IMPACT) training.
The chairman of the association, Shah Fayaz while addressing a press conference here stated that the education department has manipulated the actual module and guidelines of IMPACT training.
“The education department should come clean about who are trained and untrained teachers and on which basis they are categorizing trained and untrained teachers,” he said.
Among others present at the occasion were Chief Coordinator JK Teachers Association, Syed Iftikhar Geelani, Hatim Qayoom and other members of the association.
Shah Fayaz said the teachers were not against training but the government should clear the confusion over the assessment format prepared by the department.
“There is confusion among Teachers that they will be given grades on basis of their performance in training and if someone fails he will be given unsatisfactory remarks,” he said, adding that government should rethink about the decision.
He said if the training was given for capacity building of Teachers then such it should be mandatory for all teachers working in the department.
“Why only Grade II and III Teachers are categorized as untrained teachers despite being highly qualified,” he said.
The project director of Samagra Shiksha when contacted clarified that the assessment of the IMPACT training course was purely for successful completion of the training course not to award any grades to the teachers.
The clarification was issued by the project director Samagra Arun Kumar Manhas in wake of the confusion over the format prepared by the department for assessment of the teachers post IMPACT training course.
