Kargil woman in quarantine delivers baby

A woman from Kargil district of Ladakh who was in quarantine has delivered a healthy baby at district hospital.

“Both the mother and baby are doing well. The baby wasvaccinated at the hospital as well,” said a doctor at the hospital.

   

Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Baseerulhaq Chaudhary said thewoman from Sankoo village who was in quarantine was shifted to the districthospital Kargil after developing labour pain.

“The entire village was sealed after two persons fromthe village tested positive for COVID19. None of her family members was allowedto accompany the woman since they were also in quarantine,” Chaudharysaid.

He said a woman volunteer from Pashkum village looked afterthe woman at the hospital.

“Both the mother and the child have been shifted to theirhome after completing 14-day quarantine period,” the DC said.

The Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, R K Mathur hailed theefforts of health workers and volunteers who looked after the woman.

“The bright news of the birth of a healthy baby amidst#lockdown in a #quarantine facility in #Kargil is heartening. Wishing themother and child good health. Appreciate the #healthworkers and the #volunteerswho took care of them,” said a tweet by office of the LG.
