Kashmir continues to be in grip of cold conditions

Srinagar: Even as the night temperature at most places in Kashmir stayed above the freezing point during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, the dry and cold weather conditions continue unabated.

While Pahalgam and Gulmarg were the only two places in the Valley which experienced sub-zero night temperature during Wednesday and Thursday, Srinagar recorded a low of 0.4 degrees Celsius, slightly up from 0.3 degrees Celsius recorded during Tuesday and Wednesday night, Meteorological Department data said.

   

The mercury in Kupwara in north Kashmir settled at a low of 0.1 degrees Celsius.

Qazigund, the gateway town to the Valley, recorded 0 degrees Celsius, while Kokernag in south Kashmir registered a low of 1.2 degrees Celsius.

The officials said Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 0.2 degrees Celsius.

Ski-resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degrees Celsius. The resort was the coldest recorded station in Kashmir, MeT office said.

The MeT office has said the weather will most likely remain dry but cold till the end of this month.
