Kashmir police chief warns action over uploading ‘execution videos’ on social media

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, S P Pani on Monday warned of action against those uploading videos of ‘executions’ carried out by the militants on social media.

Addressing reporters at the wreath-laying ceremony of a slain CRPF man at Humhama, Pani said that the uploading of videos of “brutal killings” of Kashmiri youth by the militants is a crime.

“… and action will be taken against those who will upload these videos on social media”.

Hizb ul Mujahideen had purportedly released videos of the killings of two Shopian youth last week. In the videos, the outfit had blamed the slain youth for tipping off forces about the presence of militants.

Pani also said that the police was investigating the role of two women over-ground workers arrested by the police recently.

While one of the two women was arrested along with ammunition during a search of a vehicle in Lawaypora on the outskirts of Srinagar, another woman, reportedly a resident of Sumbal, was detained from Rajbagh.

“Those involved in such terror crimes of running it in cyber domain at the behest of terrorist organisations are being identified and shall be brought before law, besides the culprits involved in carrying out such  brutal killings of innocent persons,” Pani said, according to a statement released by the police.
