Kupwara: Thief who stole sound transmitter worth lakhs held in Bihar

Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested a non-local worker from his native Bihar state and recovered a sensor machine called DG track sound transmitter worth lakhs of rupees that he along with his accomplice had decamped with from Doniwari village of Kupwara district early last month.

The DG track sound transmitter worth Rs 21 lakhs is used to lay optical fibre cable and the sensor fitted machine detects the obstacles in laying the cable under-ground.

   

The accused has been identified as Akbar Sofi 25, son of Yalfan Sofi, a resident of district Supual in Bihar. A special team of police headed by SHO Sogam Adil Rishu nabbed the accused after ten days of extensive searches and raids in Supual district in Bihar, Shamsher Hussian, SSP Kupwara told reporters.

A manhunt is underway to nab his accomplice Dineshwar Kumar son of Ram Das Kumar of the same district, the senior officer said.

“On the revelation of the accused, the DG track sensor transmitter worth lakhs of rupees was recovered from the accused. The accused who was working with the contractor had decamped with costly machine early last month from the site in Doniwari village of Lolab valley,” Hussian told Greater Kashmir.

“Bihar police assisted the Kupwara police team to nab the accused after ten days of extensive searches and raids. His accomplice would be nabbed soon, ” he added.
