Lashkar, UJC pay tributes to slain militants

Lashkar-e-Taiba and United Jihad Council have paid rich tributes to the three militants, Fayaz Ahmad and his two associates, who were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Chattabal area here on Saturday.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mahmood Shah said that sacrifices won’t go in a vain.   He claimed that “Many government forces personnel including Assistant Commander of CRPF were killed in the more than 10-hour gunfight.”

“Competing an army, equipped with modern warfare weaponry, with mere a Kalashnikov and a few bullets is the clear proof of bravery and boldness of our fighters,” LeT spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghazanavi, quoted Mahmood Shah as having said.

Mahmood Shah strongly condemned the killing of a civilian who was trampled to death by forces’ vehicle.

He said, “New Delhi is committing ethnic cleansing at will. Government forces are committing severe atrocities under black draconian laws while no one is talking about the plight of poor Kashmiris.”

Mahmood Shah appealed to the human rights organizations to play their proactive role in the release of arrested Hurriyat leaders as “they are being subjected to severe inhuman treatment.”

Supporting the protest call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), Mahmood Shah said,” The people should continue to support the just and indigenous struggle.”

Meanwhile, UJC chief, Syed Salah-ud-din paid tributes to the three militants killed in Chattabal gunfight with the government forces and a civilian who was crushed to death by a police van during the clashes in Noorbagh area.

“The slain Chattabal militants proved that Kashmiri nation prefers death over suppression. The sacrifices rendered by them won’t go waste,” a local news agency KNS quoted the UJC chief as having said.

“Militants are assets to nation and people coming out to ensure their safety is its glaring example,” he said.

“New Delhi can’t suppress the people of Kashmir through the use of force. It should understand the ground reality of Kashmir and should resolve the issue as per the aspirations of people,” he said.

The UJC chief also condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the political prisoners including Shabir Ahmed Shah, AsiyaAndrabi, MasaratAalam, PirSaifullah, Ayaz Akbar and others.

“The prisoners’ especially Shabir Shah who is ill is being deprived of medical facilities and it seems that under a well planned conspiracy, the lives of these prisoners are being put at risk,” he said.
