LeT militant associate arrested in central Kashmir’s Budgam: police

Srinagar, June 2: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Lashker-e-Toiba in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

News agency GNS quoting a police statement, reported that Fayaz Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Amin Bhat, a resident of Hakarmula Budgam, was held by Budgam police alongwith 43Bn CRPF at a checkpoint established at Harren Soibug area of Budgam.

   

“Incriminating material” including LeT posters was recovered from his possession, police said.

As per the police statement, preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested militant associate was providing shelter, logistics and other material support including transportation of arms and ammunition to the active militants of outfit LeT in various areas of Budgam.

“The arrested militant associate has been in touch with the PaK militant commanders through various social media platforms and was also in constant touch with LeT self-styled militant commanders in Kashmir”, it added.

A case vide FIR No. 152/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated, reads the statement.
