NC seeks time-bound investigation into Habba Kadal youth’s killing

Srinagar: The National Conference on Thursday sought a “thorough, time-bound investigation” into the killing of a youth in Habba Kadal area of downtown Srinagar last evening.

Umer Nazir Bhat, a youth in his 20s from Kelashpora locality of Habba Kadal and a mobile shop owner by profession, was shot at by gunmen at main chowk Habba Kadal.

Bhat was removed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Reacting to the youth’s killing, an NC spokesperson said this morning that “despite assurances by the government, sadly the killings of civilians have not stopped”.

The spokesperson said that such killings were “concerning” and that they needed “immediate focus”.

“JKNC condemns the barbaric killing of a local shopkeeper in Srinagar. A thorough time-bound investigation must unmask the killers, “added the spokesperson.
