Parents of the students enrolled in Burn Hall Higher Secondary School here castigated the school authorities for prescribing “flawed” Urdu textbook for the class 7.
The parents said the textbook “Islahi Urdu” published by Pearl Books International, New Delhi, has scores of mistakes in various chapters.
The parents flayed the academic committee of the school for “approving” this book.
“It is shocking that the committee has failed to see the mistakes in the book, which are there right from the first chapter,” said Shabir Ahmad, a parent.
The text book costs Rs 240 and was sold to parent inside the premises of the schools at the time of commencement of new academic session in the school, the parents said.
The book has been authored by three writers- Muneeb Ahmad Khan, Wahi Nazir and Riyaz Ahmad.
“Given the number of mistakes, it seems the book has been directly translated from some other language,” said another parent.
Publisher, Muhammad Iqbal termed the mistakes as “human errors” and said they will be rectified once the book is reprinted.
“We publish the books from Delhi and have already reprinted the editions of Urdu textbook for class 1st to 5th. The text book for 7th standard will be reprinted after rectifying the mistakes,” Iqbal said.
A spokesman of the school said the parents should approach the school management to get the issue resolved. “We will discuss the issue with our academic committee and the concerned senior Urdu teacher. We will get the issue resolved,” he said.
