Police website updated with public grievance redress mechanism

Srinagar, Nov 26: The Kashmir Zone of J&K Police has updated its website with a public grievance redress system to reach out to the general public and to bring transparency from the police station level.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar the website of Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir https://kashmirpolice.jk.gov.in has been facilitated with public grievance redressal mechanism.

   

“Any person or party having any grievance on any matter related to the police station or any individual police officer of official, especially about the misuse of official power and position and unwarranted harassment can file his or her grievance online along with relevant details through the public grievances module on this Kashmir Police website,” the statement said.

It said that the grievance or complaint should be monitored by a designated officer at Zonal Police Headquarters, Kashmir and appropriate action as envisaged under the law should be taken within 15 days from the date it is received.

The statement said that apart from the filing of online grievances and complaints against the Police personnel, suggestions and comments from community members to improve the Police-public relationship should be appreciated.

It said that the login procedure of the public grievance module involves browsing https://kashmirpolice.jk.gov.in, clicking on grievances, and filling the required details including name, email, mobile number, district, type message that could be a grievance, a complaint, suggestions or comments, Captcha check and send.

The statement said that within 15 days, a reply or action taken report should be conveyed to the sender through email.
