Probe human rights excesses, ensure sense of security: Sagar to Admin

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference  has demanded a probe into alleged human rights excesses and has asked the Governor’s administration to ensure sense of security among the people.

Addressing party functionaries and workers here partygeneral secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar said, “On one hand we see thehonorable Governor making tall claims about protecting human rights in Kashmirand on the other hand we see abject inaction on behalf of the incumbentGovernor’s administration against excesses by forces. One fails to understandhow the anticipated goal of achieving long term peace in the Valley will bematerialized if people continue to face intimidation and other excesses. In anyworking constitutional democracy it is rather imperative for the government touphold the fundamental rights as have been assured to all by the constitution. There is no accountability on ground in this part of the world. The issue ofhuman rights violations is further complicated by the impunity it seeminglyenjoys.”

Sagar  said, “Theother day thrashing of women by forces in Tral was widely reported by localdailies. In some hamlets people continue to face curbs on their day to daylives. The other day news reports had it that seven minors were detained in theSoibugh locality in central Kashmir following some incident of stone pelting. However following the protest held by locals two boys out of the seven were letoff badly injured. One of the injured has been referred to SKIMS and hiscondition is said to be critical.  Amidstall this we don’t see Governor’s administration taking cognizance of theaccesses committed by the forces in this particular case. The districtadministration and the state machinery seemingly have shut its eyes to themounting woes of people. The incumbent governor administration has miserablyfailed to provide sense of security to the people.”

Among others provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, seniorleader Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Ali Muhammad Dar, Shameema Firdous, and PirMuhammad Hussain were also present in the meet. The leaders urged the incumbentadministration to ensure rule of law in the state.

Meanwhile party’s chief spokesperson Aga Syed RuhullahMehdi, senior leader Aga Mehmood have also condemned the Soibugh incident andhave sought a thorough investigation into the matter.
